Hi, my name is Siddharth and I am a 3rd year PMRF (Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship) Ph.D student at IIT Kharagpur, in the Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering, working towards auditing user-interfaced AI software like Face Recognition Systems and e-commerce platforms to identify and mitigate biases against minority stakeholders, with Prof. Animesh Mukherjee. I also collaborate with Prof. Saptarshi Ghosh and Dr. Abhisek Dash.

In another lifetime, I was a Technical Project Lead at Huawei Technologies, India, working with the Cloud & AI team on Big Databases, focusing on query optimization and database connectors.

I completed my M.Tech(Research) degree from Dept of CDS, IISc, Bengaluru, India. During my time at IISc, I was associated with DREAM Lab working on distributed graph algorithms. I was also a recipient of the Microsoft Data Science Fellowship for the duration of my degree.

I completed my B.Tech in Computer Science and Engg in 2016 from Tezpur Central University, Tezpur, Assam, India.

I play football and volleyball and am a huge supporter of Manchester United FC. I like photography, reading books and writing poetry. Albert Camus, Ruskin Bond and Khaled Hosseini are some of the authors whose works I love.

October 2023: I have been selected to attend the first Pingala Interactions in Computing event PIC 2024, to be held in-person in Mysore, Karnataka, India from 3rd to 6th February, 2024.
September 2023: I have been selected to attend the SLMath Workshop on Randomization, Neutrality, and Fairness 2023, to be held in-person and online in Berkeley, California, USA from 23rd to 27th October, 2023.
September 2023: “Auditing Gender Analyzers on Text Data” has been accepted as a full paper at ASONAM-2023. Looking forward to attending the conference in Kusadasi later this year!
August 2023: “Uncovering Biases in Face Recognition Systems” has been accepted for the Doctoral Consortium Track at ECAI-2023. Looking forward to attending the conference in Poland later this year!
August 2023: I am visiting L3S Research Centre, Leibniz University, Hannover, Germany as a research intern and will be working on explainability of open-source Face Recognition Systems!
July 2023: I have been selected to attend the Mediterranean Machine Learning Summer School 2023, to be held in-person in Thessaloniki, Greece from 28th August to 2nd September, 2023.
June 2023: I will be delivering a Tutorial on AI & Ethics along with Prof. Animesh Mukherjee and Dr. Abhisek Dash at the 10th International Conference on Pattern Recognition and Machine Intelligence (PReMI 2023) which will be held on 11th December, 2023 in-person at ISI Kolkata, India.
June 2023: I am a Web Co-Chair for the 3rd edition of the International Conference on AI-MLSystems which will be held from 25-28 Oct, 2023 in-person in Bengaluru, India.
