Siddharth D. Jaiswal

Hi, my name is Siddharth. I am a Responsible AI researcher, primarily interested in evaluating human-facing AI platforms that are deployed across geographies, cultures, and demographics. I intend to understand (1) how well these systems perform for such users, (2) if and where they go wrong, and (3) how we can address these concerns in an ecologically valid manner.

I completed my PhD from the Dept. of CSE, IIT Kharagpur. I was part of the CNeRG Lab, working on multiple aspects of Responsible AI, including auditing human-facing AI platforms such as Face Recognition Systems and e-commerce platforms to identify and mitigate biases against socially salient groups using low-resource, data-centric methods.

I completed my M.Tech(Research) degree from Dept of CDS, IISc Bengaluru, India. During my time at IISc, I was part of the DREAM Lab, where I worked on distributed graph algorithms. I also received the Microsoft Data Science Fellowship for the duration of my degree.

I completed my B.Tech in Computer Science and Engg in 2016 from Tezpur Central University, Tezpur, Assam, India.

Sep 01, 2026	Ended my tenure as a Visiting Researcher at Microsoft Research India. Had a great time working on multiple projects. Check the publications page for preprints!
Jun 27, 2026	I successfully defended my PhD thesis, “Auditing and Mitigating Biases in Face Recognition and Gender Analyzer Systems”, from the Dept. of CSE, IIT Kharagpur. Excited for what’s next!
